How do we conduct our reviews? 

Here at Walt’s DIY we write highly detailed articles reviewing the products and we do this so you not only have up-to-date information and can compare product to product, but so you can confidently purchase the right item for you. 

That’s the important bit. It has to be right for what you are looking to do, your budget, your experience, your profession.

There’s no point in just advising you to buy the most expensive item, or the one with all the bells and whistles – it has to be right for you. You can only know that by comparing each product side-by-side and that is what we do. 

Our review factors include price, user review scores, performance, customer service, warranty, and features. 

In our experience, the highest-priced option is not always the best, and there will be competitors that will have all of the features you will be looking for. 

It’s only by dedicating the time to analyzing each one will you know that. All our reviews are written in easy to read formats and include a comparison table for quickness. 

How do you select ‘Best Value’ and ‘Best Overall’?

We started the review site because we found so many others were selecting their best picks based solely on price. This is wrong for many reasons.

Firstly, price fluctuates and, therefore, you never really know if you are getting the best deal. The price can be artificially high or low at various times of the year, especially in the garden sector where seasonality plays its part. 

Secondly, the product’s features, and crucially benefits to you, never change. They just don’t. A review that takes all these factors into account is much more likely to be unbiased, balanced, and detailed.

It is, for this reason, we choose the best 2 per category. A product achieves our Best Value label when it has loads of features (if not all), sensibly priced and review scores are good. Best Overall is simply the best one from the factors we assess. 

Purchasing tools is not always easy and they are expensive. It’s so easy to make the wrong decision or worst still, not decide at all. Let us do all the critical thinking and research so you can, genuinely, buy with confidence.
